Rut Part 2.

I'm not feeling satisfied with what I'm doing anymore. I feel slightly alienated from my own life.
Not sleeping sucks.

Police

OK so police, yes they are an important part of our society. I don't personally enjoy being in their company but once again they are necessary and some of them are nice people. Moving on past that, nobody deserves to die in a car accident (unless you are in a demolition derby then well you kind of set yourself up for it.) but when a police officer dies in a car accident all hell breaks loose. To be specific, early this morning in Las Vegas a metro officer was responding to a domestic disturbance call driving a standard police cruiser he impacted a large truck. Killing the officer almost instantly and taking rescue crews nearly an hour to get his body out of the vehicle. The other driver was injured and was able to extricate himself from his vehicle with no life threatening injuries. Apparently a non independent on scene toxicology screening reveled an amount of alcohol in the drivers system. The police have not revealed the exact level but DUI in the state of Nevada is .08% BAC. The truck was turning right when the squad car plowed into the back of the truck (Which under circumstances not involving a police officer would be cut and dry the rear vehicles fault) . It was close to three am the police are saying he was running with lights and sirens. The driver of the truck stated the squad car was not, and in my experience most metro officers only run with lights and sirens during heavy traffic hours. Also running code does not give you unlimited rights to speed. The pictures of the impact and where the vehicles ended up in comparison to the intersection lead me to believe that the officer was traveling at speeds near 100 mph. This kind of thing happens all to often in the Vegas valley, but this time it was the cop that died not a family of five or the pregnant woman or the elderly couple (Those examples are true and all the accidents were caused by either Metro or NHP exceeding or abusing their powers on the roads all within the last two years all were fatalities where the officers were basically unhurt.). I have seen too many blind intersections, too many 25mph streets that blindly push you into 45-60mph traffic. I'm sorry that anyone dies in car accidents but when you put an inexperienced officer in his own car and tell him to run code what do you think he's going to do. I'm not trying to absolve the other driver I'm just trying to point out that it may very well have been a rookie mistake that cost the officer his life. Why on top of that do we want to send a 45 year old man with no criminal history to jail for 20 years.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah "By the Skin of My Yellow Country Teeth"

Once - The dogs have quit their barking
"Son," - my neighbor said to me."
Know the emptiness of talking bluethe same old sheep.
"Run - I'll do no more this walking
Haunted by a past I just can't see
Anymore
Anymore
But let me tell you I have never planned
To let go of the hand that has been Clinging by its thick country skin
To my yellow country teeth

Far - Far away from West Virginia
I - Will try on New York City

Explaining that the sky holds the
Wind the sun rushes in and a child
With a shotgun can shoot down
Honeybees that sting
BUT THIS BOY COULD USE A LITTLE STING!
Who - Will get me to a party?
Who - Do I have yet to meet?
You - You look a bit like coffee
And you taste a bit like me
How - Can I keep me from moving?
Now - I need a change of scenery
Just listen to me I won't pretend to
Understand the movement of the wind
Or the waves out in the ocean or how
Like the hours I change softly slowly
Plainly blindly oh me oh my!

Sleep

I haven't had a good nights sleep since the end of August 2008. Save for a few weeks around the turn of the year. Sleep is over-rated or is it?
