Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

Symptoms of SAD may consist of difficulty waking up in the morning, morning sickness, tendency to oversleep as well as to overeat, and especially a craving for carbohydrates, which leads to weight gain. Other symptoms include a lack of energy, difficulty concentrating on completing tasks, and withdrawal from friends, family, and social activities. All of this leads to the depression, pessimistic feelings of hopelessness, and lack of pleasure which characterize a person suffering from this disorder.

But I like winter.
I need some motivation, school just isn't doing it and work well that's a joke.

Mel you motivated me and now that you're gone I'm lost.

Andrew Bird "Fake Palindromes"

Andrew Bird "Fake Palindromes"

my dewy-eyed disney bride, what has tried
swapping your blood with formaldehyde?
monsters?
whiskey-plied voices cried fratricide!
jesus don't you know that you could've died
(you should've died)
with the monsters that talk, monsters that walk the earth

and she's got red lipstick and a bright pair of shoes
and she's got knee high socks, what to cover a bruise
she's got an old death kit she's been meaning to use
she's got blood in her eyes, in her eyes for you
she's got blood in her eyes for you

certain fads, stripes and plaids, singles ads
they run you hot and cold like a rheostat, i mean a thermostat
so you bite on a towel
hope it won't hurt too bad

my dewy-eyed disney bride, what has tried
swapping your blood with formaldehyde?
what monsters that talk, monsters that walk the earth

and she says i like long walks and sci-fi movies
if you're six foot tall and east coast bred
some lonely night we can get together
and i'm gonna tie your wrists with leather
and drill a tiny hole into your head

Barry Louis Polisar "All I want is you"

If I was a flower growing wild and free
All I'd want is you to be my sweet honey bee.
And if I was a tree growing tall and green
All I'd want is you to shade me and be my leaves

If I was a flower growing wild and free
All I'd want is you to be my sweet honey bee.
And if I was a tree growing tall and green
All I'd want is you to shade me and be my leaves

All I want is you, will you be my bride
Take me by the hand and stand by my side
All I want is you, will you stay with me?
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea.

If you were a river in the mountains tall,
The rumble of your water would be my call.
If you were the winter, I know I'd be the snow
Just as long as you were with me, when the cold winds blow.

All I want is you, will you be my bride
Take me by the hand and stand by my side
All I want is you, will you stay with me?
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea.

If you were a wink, I'd be a nod
If you were a seed, well I'd be a pod.
If you were the floor, I'd wanna be the rug
And if you were a kiss, I know I'd be a hug

All I want is you, will you be my bride
Take me by the hand and stand by my side
All I want is you, will you stay with me?
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea.

If you were the wood, I'd be the fire.
If you were the love, I'd be the desire.
If you were a castle, I'd be your moat,
And if you were an ocean, I'd learn to float.

All I want is you, will you be my bride
Take me by the hand and stand by my side
All I want is you, will you stay with me?
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea.

Stars "Your Ex-Lover is Dead"

This song has been haunting me the past two weeks.

"Your Ex-Lover Is Dead"

God that was strange to see you again
Introduced by a friend of a friend
Smiled and said 'yes I think we've met before'
In that instant it started to pour,
Captured a taxi despite all the rain
We drove in silence across Pont Champlain
And all of the time you thought I was sad
I was trying to remember your name...

This scar is a fleck on my porcelain skin
Tried to reach deep but you couldn't get in
Now you're outside me
You see all the beauty
Repent all your sin

It's nothing but time and a face that you lose
I chose to feel it and you couldn't choose
I'll write you a postcard
I'll send you the news
From a house down the road from real love...

Live through this, and you won't look back...
Live through this, and you won't look back...
Live through this, and you won't look back...

There's one thing I want to say, so I'll be brave
You were what I wanted
I gave what I gave
I'm not sorry I met you
I'm not sorry it's over
I'm not sorry there's nothing to save

I'm not sorry there's nothing to save...

City O' Rocks 2010x2

So I was fortunate enough to make it to the City two weekends in a row. It was quite enjoyable.
First weekend was with a sizable percentage of TEMF, the weekend started with some of the vanguard getting snowed out but by the time the full force was assembled the nasty weather vanished and the rocks were all ours. Hmm... if I remember correctly we climbed some stuff on window rock (5.6-5.10) then went out to climb Private Idaho which I proceeded to bleed all over nearly vomit and fully exhausted myself (damn it was good). The next day we descended in our standard mob upon the Lost Arrow Spire I think in all 8 people topped out then with the weather looming we began our retreat to camp and beer. On the march home the weather held off long enough to run a train on Too Much Fun. After that it truly was time for beer, whiskey and great curry (thanks Sue!).

The next weekend was hmm... I'll call them the Ruby Crest Gang a smaller but no less enjoyable faction of the Elko clans oh yes and several members of the newly formed Bell clan of Ely. The first night we go there a bit on the later side but still managed to put in a few pitches rapping in the dark free is always a trip. The next day Russ (team Bell) and I went and knocked out Theater of Shadows and Sinocranium in about 4 hours. After that it was on to pizza then camp. Sunday we screwed around on Bath rock I was able to get in a few sporty 10s and the rest of the gang played with the TRs and a few 8s and 9s in the area then back to Ely.

Two great weekends if I do say so myself.

Against Me!

Ok so Against Me! isn't something new to rave about but they've resurfaced in my pool of interest recently. They have quite a few good songs so here are three. It seems that all of them are off of the "Reinventing Axl Rose" '02

"Pints of Guinness Makes you Strong"

Evelyn sits by the elevator doors
It's been 37 years since James died on St. Patrick's Day in 1964
But she could not hold it against him
There were times when there was nothing she could do
But lie in bed all day beside a picture of them together
A picture of better days

And just like James, I'll be drinking Irish tonight
and the memory of his last work week will be gone forever
Evelyn I'm not coming home tonight!
If we're never together
If I'm never back again
Well I swear to God that I'll love you forever
Evelyn I'm not coming home tonight!

In all the years that went by she said
She'd always love him
and from the day that he died
She never loved again

And in his wallet she kept in her nightstand
an a.a. card and a lock of red hair
she kept secrets of pride locked so tight in her heart
it killed a part of her before the rest was gone.

She said, "If I would have known just how things would have ended up
I just would have let myself die."

And just like James, I'll be drinking Irish tonight
and the memory of his last work week will be gone forever
Evelyn I'm not coming home tonight!
If we're never together
If I'm never back again
Well I swear to God that I'll love you forever
Evelyn I'm not coming home tonight!

"Baby, I'm an Anarchist"

Through the best of times,
Through the worst of times,
Through Nixon and through Bush,
Do you remember '36?
We went our seperate ways.
You fought for Stalin.
I fought for freedom.
You believe in authority.
I believe in myself.
I'm a molotov cocktail.
You're Dom Perignon.
Baby, what's that confused look in your eyes?
What I'm trying to say is that
I burn down buildings
While you sit on a shelf inside of them.
You call the cops
On the looters and piethrowers.
They call it class war,
I call it co-conspirators.

'Cause baby, I'm an anarchist,
You're a spineless liberal.
We marched together for the eight-hour day
And held hands in the streets of Seattle,
But when it came time to throw bricks
Through that Starbucks window,
You left me all alone.

You watched in awe at the red,
White, and blue on the fourth of july.
While those fireworks were exploding,
I was burning that fucker
And stringing my black flag high,
Eating the peanuts
That the parties have tossed you
In the back seat of your father's new Ford.
You believe in the ballot,
Believe in reform.
You have faith in the elephant and jackass,
And to you, solidarity's a four-letter word.
We're all hypocrites,
But you're a patriot.
You thought I was only joking
When I screamed "Kill Whitey!"
At the top of my lungs
At the cops in their cars
And the men in their suits.
No, I won't take your hand
And marry the State.

'Cause baby, I'm an anarchist,
You're a spineless liberal.
We marched together for the eight-hour day
And held hands in the streets of Seattle,
But when it came time to throw bricks
Through that Starbucks window,
You left me all alone.

"Those Anarcho Punks are Mysterious..."

We're all presidents, we're all congressmen,
We're all cops in waiting,
We're the workers of the world,
There is the elite and the dispossessed,
And it's only about survival,
Who has the skill to play the game for all it's worth,
And reach an obscure kind of perfection,
Let's try and keep as much emotion out of this as possible,
Let's try not to remember any names,
We'll do it for a country, for a people, for a moral vision,
United, we'll make them remember our history,
Or how we'd like to be told,
How we'd like to be told...

And we rock,
Because it's us against them.
We found our own reasons to sing,
And it's so much less confusing
when lines are drawn like that,
When people are either consumers or revolutionaries,
Enemies or friends hanging on the fringes
Of the cogs in the system,
It's just about knowing where everyone stands.
All of a sudden,
People start talking 'bout guns,
Talking like they're going to war,
'Cause they found something to die for,
Start taking back what they stole-
sure beats every other option,
But does it make a difference how we get it?
Well do you really fucking get it?
No, no, no, no,
No, no, no, no....

Man Man "Black Misson Goggles"

I thought maybe if I'm returing to my blog I'd start if off with some new songs that are in my head.

Man Man
"Black Misson Goggles"
the sky is falling like a
sock of cocaine in the
ministry of information

subway train's derailing
heads decapitating
catch her reflection and it seems to sing to me

and i say lalalala lalalala lalalala lalalalala
lalalala lalalala lalalala lalalalala

she's a warm bodega
high on noriega
strung out in brooklyn like it's 1983

she wears her legs around her
neck like a piece of ice
her smile's a neon marque hipsters eat for free

and i say lalalala lalalala lalalala lalalalala
lalalala lalalala lalalala lalalalala

i am falling like a
sock of cocaine in the
ministry of information

i'm a warm bodega
high on noriega
strung out in brooklyn cause i fell in love with her

and i say lalalala lalalala lalalala lalalalala
lalalala lalalala lalalala lalalalala

moon cut moon cuts tiny like eyelash
lonely cat nap whisper lonely cat nap whisper
moon cut moon cuts tiny like eyelash
lonely cat nap whisper lonely cat nap whisper

and i walk around i whisper in her scalp
i whisper on the wind i whisper once again
